President of Turkmenistan has a telephone conversation with President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov had a telephone conversation with President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Arif Alvi.

Warmly welcoming each other, the leaders of the two countries expressed satisfaction with the opportunity to discuss the status and key areas of interstate relations, built on the principles of mutual respect, equality and the aspiration for progress and development.

Expressing gratitude to President Arif Alvi for the great personal contribution and attention paid to strengthening bilateral cooperation, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted that our states and peoples were bound by the traditions of friendship and cooperation.

During the telephone conversation, it was emphasized that in recent years, the friendly, trust-based Turkmen-Pakistani dialogue had acquired a new content and developed successfully due to the huge potential and mutual willingness of the parties to build up mutually beneficial relations.

The leaders of the two states expressed satisfaction with the high level of cooperation in the political sphere, including within the framework of authoritative international organizations. In this regard, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov expressed gratitude to the Government of Pakistan for the active support of Turkmenistan's initiatives, aimed at ensuring universal peace, security and sustainable development.

It was also underlined the progressive dynamics of cooperation in the trade and economic sphere, in particular the implementation of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) transnational gas pipeline project.

As of today, construction and installation works are under completion in Turkmenistan. Most recently, Turkmenistan and Afghanistan have signed the Memorandum of Understanding on the selection of land plots on the Afghan site of the TAPI project with the aim to facilitate the intensification of work on the territory of the neighboring country.

In this context, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov expressed hope that with the assistance and support of President Arif Alvi, Pakistan would launch construction of the gas pipeline on its territory soon.

The transport and communication infrastructure, as well as construction of power transmission lines were specified among the promising areas of interstate and regional cooperation.

In this regard, it was emphasized the importance of analyzing the general status of trade and economic relations and the dynamics of trade. President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov suggested to hold a regular meeting of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Pakistani Commission in the near future.

The interlocutors also called for expanding the traditional humanitarian interaction between the two countries, the peoples of which are united by long-standing spiritual and cultural ties. In this regard, there are good opportunities for enhancing relations in the spheres of culture and arts, science, education and medicine.

In conclusion of the conversation, confirming the mutual commitment of Turkmenistan and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to build up constructive dialogue across its entire spectrum, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President Arif Alvi wished each other good health and success, and well-being and prosperity to the fraternal peoples of the both countries.
