THE PRESIDENT OF TURKMENISTAN MET WITH THE US SPECIAL PRESIDENTIAL ENVOY FOR CLIMATE

In this regard, the readiness of Turkmenistan and the United States to further strengthen a constructive partnership that meets the interests of common well-being was confirmed.
During the exchange of views on priority environmental aspects, it was emphasized that this factor is identified as one of the integral components of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. It was also noted that this topic became the subject of extensive discussion during a telephone conversation between the President of Turkmenistan and the Special Envoy of the President of the United States in May of this year.
Implementing the strategy of transition to a “green” economy, Turkmenistan is focused on the widespread introduction of advanced environmentally friendly resource-saving technologies in various industries. Our country is also initiating the establishment, under the auspices of the UN, of a Regional Center for Technologies Related to Climate Change in Central Asia. This specialized structure is intended to become an effective platform for effective cooperation in the field of adaptation to climate change and mitigation of its consequences.
The Special Envoy of the US President highly appreciated the work being carried out by Turkmenistan in this important area. As noted, by taking an active part in the efforts of the international community, our country makes a concrete contribution to solving pressing environmental problems.
At the end of the meeting, the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the Special Envoy of the President of the United States of America for Climate John Kerry expressed confidence that fruitful interstate cooperation will continue to develop successfully, acquiring new content.
