Prospects of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the International Monetary Fund discussed

On 1 November 2024, a meeting was held at the MFA of Turkmenistan between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and the delegation of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) headed by Anna Rose Bordon, Advisor, Head of IMF Mission for Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan.

At the meeting, the sides discussed the current state and prospects of further development of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the IMF.

During the talks, the sides underlined the commitment to strengthen collaboration, including on matters related to Turkmenistan’s determination to join the World Trade Organization.

In this regard, the importance of IMF advisory support to Turkmenistan that has the status of an acceding country (“active observer”) since 2022, was emphasized.  

The participants highlighted the need to consolidate efforts aimed at developing cooperation between Turkmenistan and the International Monetary Fund.
