Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Abdulla Abdulla discussed the perspectives of Turkmen – Afghan cooperation

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, who arrived in Dushanbe for participation in high-level conference “Water for Sustainable Development”, had a meeting with the Head of Executive Power of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Abdulla Abdulla. 

Having expressed the gratitude for the opportunity of personal meeting, high-rank representative of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan conveyed the greetings of President of Afghanistan Ashraf Ghani to the Head of Turkmen State. 

Having expressed the gratitude for good words and addressed return greetings to his Afghan colleague, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov confirmed the commitment of Turkmenistan to traditionally friendly constructive dialog with Afghanistan. 

Speaking of the agenda of current forum, the Head of Executive Power Abdulla Abdulla has mentioned the appropriateness of international initiatives of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov aimed at the creation of reliable base for stable peace in the third millennium. 

It was highlighted that constructive proposals of independent neutral Turkmenistan on integrated approach to the solution of ecological problems find all-around support of the world community. Provision of peace, stability and sustainable development in regional and global levels are strategic goals of Turkmenistan and Afghanistan, for achievement of which the countries actively cooperate under the United Nations, Non-Alignment Movement, Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Economic Cooperation Organization. 

In this regard, Turkmen leader stated the coincidence of the visions of the sides on such actual directions of international politics as energy safety and transport cooperation. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov highlighted that Turkmenistan and Afghanistan acts as the supporter of peaceful and diplomatic solutions of all arising problems. 

Partnership in fuel and energy sphere, especially the realization of Turkmenistan – Afghanistan – Pakistan – India gas pipeline project, which commissioning would make positive effect on social and economic development of the region, was one of the subjects of the meeting. The projects of transport corridors and large electrical energy infrastructure seem to be perspective as well. 

In this context, Turkmen leader highlighted that Rabatkashan – Kalaynau power line is to be put into operation in few days. It will allow expanding the supplies of the electricity to the neighbouring country. In this regard, Abdulla Abdulla expressed the gratitude to the Head of the State and to Turkmen people for the support in stable development of Afghanistan.
