Meeting of the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan with the head of the Republic of Tatarstan of the Russian Federation

On February 18, 2025, the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov met with the head of the Republic of Tatarstan of the Russian Federation Rustam Minnikhanov, who arrived in Turkmenistan on a working visit.

Having expressed deep gratitude for the time devoted to the meeting, the guest conveyed warm words of greeting and best wishes from the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin to the National Leader of the Turkmen people.

Having greeted the long-time friend of the Turkmen people, the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty conveyed to the Russian leader his sincere wishes for happiness, peace and prosperity.

It was noted that Turkmenistan promotes positive initiatives aimed at ensuring global peace and sustainable development, recognized by the world community. Turkmen diplomats play an important role in the successful implementation of the country’s foreign policy, based on mutual consideration of interests, equality, good will and peacefulness.

In this regard, it was noted that every year on February 18, the country widely celebrates the Day of Diplomatic Workers of Turkmenistan. The meeting of the National Leader of the Turkmen people with the head of the Republic of Tatarstan of the Russian Federation on this significant date is of particular importance.

On this day, Hero-Arkadag sincerely congratulated all employees of the country’s diplomatic service on their professional holiday and wished them success in their responsible work.

The Head of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov sincerely congratulated the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov on the Day of Diplomatic Workers, noting that it is a great honor for him to visit Turkmenistan on the day of celebrating this professional holiday.

In turn, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan expressed sincere gratitude to the National Leader of the Turkmen people, the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, the President of Turkmenistan, as well as the Rais of the Republic of Tatarstan of the Russian Federation for their congratulations and wished him great success.

Continuing the meeting, the National Leader of the Turkmen people Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized that in recent years a lot of work has been done in the political, economic and other areas, thanks to which bilateral relations have reached a new level.

- We in Turkmenistan highly value relations with the Republic of Tatarstan of the Russian Federation, the National Leader of the Turkmen people particularly emphasized, noting with satisfaction that today bilateral cooperation is steadily expanding on the principles of good neighborliness, friendship and equality.

Interaction in the cultural, humanitarian, scientific, educational and sports spheres is consistently developing, which contributes to strengthening the dialogue.

Expressing gratitude for the care of Turkmen students studying at universities in Tatarstan, Russian Federation, Hero-Arkadag confirmed Turkmenistan’s readiness to continue to expand cooperation in this area.

Noting that in accordance with the UN General Assembly Resolution adopted at the initiative of Turkmenistan, 2025 has been declared the “International Year of Peace and Trust”, the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty announced that on December 12 of this year, a representative International Forum will be held in the Turkmen capital in honor of the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s permanent neutrality.

Expressing great respect, Hero-Arkadag invited Rustam Minnikhanov to take part in the upcoming forum, expressing confidence that his participation would make an important contribution to the successful holding of this major international event.

At the end of the meeting, expressing confidence that the current visit will be another important step in the consistent strengthening of friendly relations, the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and the head of the Republic of Tatarstan of the Russian Federation Rustam Minnikhanov wished each other health and success in responsible state activities, and the fraternal peoples of Turkmenistan and Tatarstan - peace, goodness and prosperity.

At the end of the meeting, the National Leader of the Turkmen people Hero-Arkadag and the distinguished guest went together to the Ashgabat International Airport, from where the head of the Republic of Tatarstan of the Russian Federation departed for his homeland.
