A festive event dedicated to the 34th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s Independence was held in Tashkent
On 18 September 2025, a festive event entitled “Turkmen-Uzbek Relations – at a New Historical Stage” was held in Tashkent, dedicated to the 34th anniversary of the Independence of Turkmenistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan. It was jointly organized by the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Interethnic Relations and Issues of Compatriots Abroad and the Turkmen National Cultural Center.
The festive event was attended by heads and and representatives of the Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Interethnic Relations and Compatriots Abroad, various national cultural centers, higher education institutions, Turkmen and Uzbek students, and media representatives.
During the event, speeches were made by Sh.Meredov, Ambassador of Turkmenistan to the Republic of Uzbekistan, Chairman of the Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Interethnic Relations and Issues of Compatriots Abroad K. Sariev, and Deputy of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Head of the Turkmen National Cultural Center G.Avezdurdyeva.
In his speech, Ambassador Sh. Meredov drew attention to the great achievements of Turkmenistan during the years of independence and noted that in recent years, thanks to the efforts of the Heads of State of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, bilateral relations between the two countries have reached a fundamentally new level in various areas, including political, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian.
At the end of the festive event, the participants enjoyed musical performances presented jointly by representatives of the Turkmen National Cultural Centre of Uzbekistan, the State Philharmonic of Uzbekistan, other national cultural centres, as well as Turkmen students. Folk songs dedicated to friendship and national dances, including the Turkmen folk dance “Kushtdepdi”, left a deep impression on the participants of the festive event.
