Talks were held between the Presidents of Turkmenistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan
On November 17, 2025, on the second day of the state visit of the Head of Turkmenistan to the Republic of Uzbekistan, high-level talks were held between Presidents Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
Early in the morning, the Head of state arrived at New Uzbekistan Park, where he laid flowers at the Independence Monument.
Then, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov inspected the monument's features.
Then the presidential motorcade proceeded to the Kuksaroy State Residence. At the central entrance of the Palace, the Head of Turkmenistan was warmly welcomed by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
Following an official joint photograph with the national flags of the two countries in the background, talks were held between Presidents Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
Warmly welcoming the distinguished guest, the Head of the neighboring country thanked the Head of Turkmenistan for accepting the invitation to visit Uzbekistan on a state visit. Expressing gratitude to President Shavkat Mirziyoyev for the invitation to pay a state visit to Uzbekistan and the warm welcome, hospitality, and cordiality extended to the Turkmen delegation, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov conveyed heartfelt greetings and best wishes from the National Leader of the Turkmen People Hero Arkadag.
Noting the enormous contribution of the Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan to deepening the traditionally friendly Uzbek-Turkmen relations, the Head of the neighboring state conveyed his best wishes to the National Leader of the Turkmen people.
The talks then continued in an expanded format, with the participation of members of the delegations of the two countries.
Warmly welcoming the Head of Turkmenistan once again, the President of Uzbekistan emphasized that the current state visit of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov is a clear confirmation of the inviolability of the centuries-old ties of friendship and good-neighborliness between the two peoples. Joint activities in trade, transport, energy, water management, and other key areas were highly valued.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted that bilateral trade has doubled in recent years. To expand industrial cooperation, emphasis was placed on the importance of actively engaging businesses in launching new projects for the production of construction materials, pharmaceuticals, food products, and other in-demand goods.
Effective and mutually beneficial cooperation in the energy sector was emphasized.
The importance of expanding partnerships in the cultural and humanitarian sphere was also acknowledged.
President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized that regular high-level contacts are a key factor in strengthening bilateral political and diplomatic relations, noting with satisfaction the convergence or similarity of the two countries' positions on key international issues. In this regard, gratitude was expressed to the Uzbek side for its continued support of Turkmenistan's policy of permanent neutrality and international initiatives.
Partnership within the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea (IFAS) remains an effective vector of interaction.
Regarding trade and economic cooperation, it was noted that partnership in this area encompasses such areas as trade, transport and communications, fuel and energy, industry, agriculture, and environmental protection. Dynamic growth in mutual trade was also noted.
Transportation was identified as a priority vector of partnership. Particular emphasis was placed on the relevance of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan-Turkmenistan route with access to the Persian Gulf and the Caspian Sea.
The Head of state confirmed Turkmenistan's readiness to collaborate on the creation of the Farab-Alat transport and logistics hub on the Turkmen-Uzbek border, with the involvement of major global transport companies and international financial institutions in this area.
A commitment to deepening mutually beneficial cooperation based on mutually acceptable terms in the energy sector was also declared. At the same time, the importance of effectively realizing the existing potential for developing partnerships in sectors such as agriculture, chemicals, mechanical engineering, metallurgy, construction, environmental technology, textiles, and pharmaceuticals was noted.
It was emphasized that water issues occupy a significant place in both bilateral and regional contexts. In this regard, the Head of Turkmenistan noted that water and energy issues should be addressed based on generally recognized norms of international law.
Cultural and humanitarian cooperation was identified as an important component of bilateral relations.
In conclusion, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov thanked President Shavkat Mirziyoyev for his personal contribution to the development of Turkmen-Uzbek relations.
