Food laboratories of the country prepares to be accredited by new version of ISO/IEC 17025 standard

Seminar of implementation of management system in testing and calibrating laboratories according to international standard ISO/IEC 17025 has been held in Yildyz Hotel. 19 specialists of different laboratories working with food products took part in the event organized by the Project of European Union “Support for Further Sustainable Agriculture and Rural Development in Turkmenistan - SARD III”. There were the representatives of the Centre of Health and Public Catering, laboratory of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, Turkmenstandartlary Service as well as the inspectors of the Calibration Centre among them. 

The participants of the training held by international expert Vladimir Beresnev have learnt the international system of accreditation of the laboratories, requirements of international standard for testing and calibrating laboratories ISO/IEC 17025:2017. Special attention was paid to the latest requirements of ISO/IEC 17025:2017such as impartiality, influence of internal and external factors on operation of the laboratory, legal aspects of activity, risk management, implementation of IT-technologies. 

Improvement of the competiveness of Turkmen food producers by development of the quality infrastructure is one of the main goals of SARD III, Arthur Russel, the Head of the project highlighted. 

In his turn, expert Vladimir Beresnev noted that the laboratories in Turkmenistan have highly qualified personnel and innovative equipment and international accreditation would confirm their competency. Having visited the laboratories of the Centre of Food and the UIET, V. Beresnev gave positive feedback to the measures taken by these structures for obtaining of international accreditation and gave necessary recommendations.
