On 13 October 2026, a telephone conversation took place between the National Leader of the Turkmen People, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, and the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

Having warmly greeted each other, the interlocutors expressed satisfaction with the current state of cooperation between the two brotherly countries.

Hero-Arkadag thanked President Shavkat Mirziyoyev for his significant personal contribution to strengthening the bonds of friendship and partnership between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan.

As noted, relations between the two countries are currently developing dynamically in the political and diplomatic, trade and economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres, as well as in a number of other areas.

At the same time, it was emphasised that regular meetings between the National Leader of the Turkmen People and President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, together with the agreements reached, provide a solid foundation for expanding cooperation in both bilateral and multilateral formats.

A clear testament to this is the recent meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and the Eighth Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia and the Republic of Azerbaijan, held in the Avaza National Tourist Zone.

Particular emphasis was placed on the importance of the proposals put forward to develop industrial cooperation and implement joint investment projects, strengthen transport and logistics connectivity, and expand partnership in such areas as energy, the rational use of water resources, environmental protection and the introduction of modern technologies.

Speaking about cooperation within the Commonwealth of Independent States, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasised that the transfer of the CIS chairmanship to Uzbekistan following Turkmenistan's chairmanship was a source of particular pride and carried great symbolic significance. In this regard, Hero-Arkadag expressed confidence that the initiatives put forward by Turkmenistan would find practical implementation during Uzbekistan's chairmanship of the Commonwealth.

As the National Leader of the Turkmen People noted, important proposals aimed at strengthening multilateral cooperation across the CIS region were presented at the Summit in Avaza. In particular, they concern expanding economic ties, establishing joint production facilities, ensuring food and energy security, developing transport connectivity, and deepening humanitarian contacts and cooperation in combating modern transnational threats, including cybercrime.

Hero-Arkadag expressed confidence that the practical implementation of these initiatives would create additional opportunities for maintaining peace and stability and promoting economic growth both across the CIS region and beyond.

It was emphasized that alongside with the high-level forums held in Turkmenistan, conferences, meetings and competitions of international significance were also held in an organised manner. Particular attention was given to joint cultural events.

“I am sincerely pleased that a representative of Uzbekistan won the Grand Prix at the international ‘Tatar Kызы’ (Tatar Girl) competition,” Hero-Arkadag said, congratulating President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on this noteworthy achievement.

As noted, such events contribute to bringing peoples closer together, expanding humanitarian ties, promoting and mutually enriching traditions and customs, and creating favourable conditions for the development of interstate dialogue.

At the conclusion of the conversation, the National Leader of the Turkmen People and the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan expressed confidence that bilateral relations would continue to strengthen across a broad range of areas. They exchanged best wishes for each other and for the friendly peoples of the two countries.
