Address of the President of Turkmenistan on occasion of the International Day of Older Persons
“I congratulate you on the International Day of Older Persons - a holiday that embodies high humanistic principles! Respect for the elders is at the heart of our mentality. We are proud of the wise elders who share their knowledge and experience with young people. We are proud of our national traditions, we follow them and enrich them”, says President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov in his congratulatory address.
According to the Turkmen leader, the state policy of Turkmenistan aims at bringing our country up to the level of a number of developed countries of the world, ensuring the prosperous life of the people.
“Guided by the main motto - “The state is for a person!” we systematically strengthen the social security of our citizens and radically improve the social and living conditions of their life. Building modern cities, towns and villages, educational institutions, sports complexes, introducing advanced achievements of science and technology, the best world experience, we achieve high standards in the construction of scientific and clinical centers, hospitals, sanatoriums, transnational railways and high-speed autobahns, air harbors.
“Strictly following the principles of neutrality, peacefulness, good neighborliness and mutually beneficial cooperation, we successfully pursue the constructive foreign policy. Therefore, the neutral legal status of Turkmenistan recognized by the United Nations has become a symbol of friendship and equal partnership.
At the meeting of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan held on the eve of Independence Day, we discussed important issues and made crucial decisions to ensure the further comprehensive development of the state and society. The work carried out and the successes achieved strengthen our unity, inspire us to achieve higher goals”, the Address says.
“With the blessing of the aksakals, we start any deal, they are always with us, and we deeply appreciate it. With their rich life experience, the elders give us wise advice both in raising children in the spirit of patriotism and respect for the elders, and in work”, emphasized the Turkmen leader.
Once again congratulating the elders and all compatriots on the International Day of Older Persons, a holiday declared by the UN General Assembly 30 years ago, the President of Turkmenistan wished them good health, longevity, happy and prosperous life.
