Telephone conversation between President of Turkmenistan and President of Uzbekistan

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov had a telephone conversation with President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

Warmly greeting each other, the leaders of the two neighboring countries expressed satisfaction with the opportunity to exchange views on priority issues of interstate cooperation based on the principles of constructiveness, equality and trust.

In this regard, it was noted that regular high-level contacts gave a powerful impetus to the further development of the Turkmen-Uzbek relations.

The interlocutors expressed satisfaction with the dynamic and progressive character of the fraternal, friendly and good-neighborly dialogue between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan, which is distinguished by deep sincerity and openness.

As emphasized, in recent years, Turkmen-Uzbek cooperation has reached a qualitatively new level and successfully develops in a wide range of areas, both in a bilateral format and through international structures that is vividly proved by the mutual support of international initiatives and proposals put forward within the framework of authoritative organizations.

In this context, it was noted that the interstate trade and economic relations also developed successfully that is vividly demonstrated by the 1st online meeting of the Business Council "Turkmenistan-Uzbekistan" that took place yesterday.

Exchanging views on a number of important issues of regional and global issues, Presidents Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Shavkat Mirziyoyev touched upon the spread of coronavirus infection, which has now become a serious challenge for the entire world community.

As noted, today Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan take efficient steps in order to minimize the negative impact of the pandemic on the interstate trade and economic partnership.

Reaffirming the willingness of our country to promote cooperation in the scientific and medical field for a mutually beneficial exchange of experience, the Turkmen leader expressed belief that joint efforts would achieve success in solving this difficult task.

In continuation of the telephone conversation, the leaders of the two states focused on the Consultative Meeting of the Heads of Central Asia States. President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov proposed to hold it in Ashgabat in 2021.

Turkmenistan is ready to launch the appropriate procedure for coordination on the above issue. As for the date and agenda of the upcoming Summit, it is proposed to agree on them through the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Central Asian states.

At the end of the conversation, Presidents Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Shavkat Mirziyoyev wished each other good health and success in responsible government activities, and peace, well-being and prosperity – to the fraternal peoples of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan .
