Videoconference bridge connects diplomatic institutes of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan

Aspects of cooperation, as well as training specialists in international relations were included in the agenda of the online meeting between the representatives of the Institute of International Relations (IIR) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the University of World Economy and Diplomacy (UWED) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The webinar participants also reviewed the progress in implementing the Memorandum of Cooperation between the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and UWED, signed in October 2015. Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Uzbekistan Yazguly Mammedov, Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Turkmenistan Akmal Kuchkarov, as well as rectors Jumamyrat Gurbangeldiev (IIR), Komiljon Karimov (UWED) and university professors took part in the meeting.

The rectors presented detailed information on the structure and various aspects of work of the universities, expressing mutual interest in the exchange of experience, organization of specialized meetings and conferences in digital format.

In this context, Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Uzbekistan Yazguly Mammedov focused on the positive dynamics of cooperation between the two countries in many areas, in particular, academic exchanges, and noted that currently about 2,000 citizens of our country studied in universities of Uzbekistan. On occasion of the 25th anniversary of neutrality of Turkmenistan, the possibility of organizing an online lecture for UWED students on the key principles of the foreign policy strategy of our country and international initiatives of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov was discussed.

Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Turkmenistan Akmal Kuchkarov informed the meeting participants on the achievements and priorities of the foreign policy of Uzbekistan and put forward a number of constructive proposals on cooperation between the two higher educational institutes.

UWED Vice Rector, Saidmukhtar Saidkasimov emphasized that our countries shared common historical and spiritual roots and over the years of independence, a solid political and legal foundation had been laid for mutually respectful and strategic partnership. The scientist outlined promising areas of interuniversity integration. It was expressed the gratitude to Ambassador Yazguly Mammedov for organizing the presentation of the books of the President of Turkmenistan in the Russian and English languages, presented to the library of the university.

The meeting participants reached an agreement on expanding the multidimensional dialogue between specialized universities, including academic exchanges, holding joint conferences and seminars in an online format.
