PREPARATION ISSUES TO THE 2020 SUMMER OLYMPIC GAMES WERE DISCUSSED DURING THE VIDEOCONFERENCE
On November 5, 2020, a meeting of representatives of the National Olympic Committee and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan with Toru Kobayashi, the Head of NOC Services and Relations for the Tokyo 2020 Organising Committee was held.
The main topic of the meeting was the preparation to the Tokyo-2020 Summer Olympic Games, which were postponed to 2021 due to the global pandemic COVID-19. In particular, the preparation of Turkmen athletes for Tokyo-2020 was discussed. In this context, it is important to note the large-scale work implemented in the country to stimulate and improve the sports sector, enhance its capacity, including the numerous sport facilities built in accordance with world standards.
The Turkmen side highly appraised the work of the Games Organizing Committee. In turn, speaking about the development of the Olympic movement in the country, Toru Kobayashi noted the rich experience of Turkmenistan in hosting international sport competitions.
