THE PRIORITIES OF DEVELOPING ECONOMIC COOPERATION BETWEEN TURKMENISTAN AND THE REPUBLIC OF BELARUS DETERMINED

On the 26th of February 2021, the 10th session of the Co-chairmen of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Belarusian Commission on Economic Cooperation took place in the online format.  

The heads and leading specialists of the profile ministries and departments, as well as the business circles of two countries also took part in the session.

The Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Sh.Durdyliyev and the Deputy Prime-Minister of the Republic of Belarus Yu.Nazarov determined the priorities of cooperation development in the area of transport, infrastructure, agriculture and food industry, as well as in the humanitarian field  

The issues posing mutual interest aimed at the development of bilateral Turkmen-Belarusian cooperation were also discussed. As is known, the traditionally friendly relations between the two friendly countries are based on the firm ties of equality, respect and mutual support.

In this context, the joint interest in the intensification of business ties and mutually beneficial partnership in the field of agroindustrial complex, mechanical engineering, textile and light industry, construction industry, transport-communication and other areas was expressed.   

In the framework of the meeting, the parties discussed and determined a number of concrete steps aimed at further intensification of partnership in trade-economic sphere, including the increase of the volumes of mutual trade turnover.  The necessity of accelerating the joint steps on the increase of export-import operations and expanding the variety of goods and services supplied was underlined.  The efficient functioning of Trade Houses of two countries was stated.      

The proposals on the supply to Turkmenistan of freight vehicles and buses, agricultural equipment, lift tools produced in Belarus were also voiced at the session.  The issues pertaining to the work of the Belarusian Machinery Service Center in Ashgabat were also discussed.   

Emphasizing the consistent development of cooperation in cultural-humanitarian sector, the parties confirmed the special importance of further improvement of collaboration in the area of education, culture, healthcare, sport and tourism.

Upon the outcomes of the meeting, the parties signed the Protocol of the 10th session of the Co-chairmen of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Belarusian Commission on Economic Cooperation.
