PARTICIPATION OF TURKMENISTAN IN THE 14TH UNITED NATIONS CONGRESS ON CRIME PREVENTION AND CRIMINAL JUSTICE
During the period of 7 to 12 March, 2021, Delegation of Turkmenistan headed by Attorney General of the country participated in an online format in the 14th United Nations Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice, held in Kyoto city of Japan.
High-ranking representatives of over 150 countries-members of the UN and international organizations attended the event. Minister of Justice of Japan Yoko Kamikawa was elected as the Chairwoman of the Congress. Prime-Minister of Japan Yoshihide Suga participated to the opening ceremony.
In turn, the head of the delegation of Turkmenistan B.Atdaev in his speech informed the participants about state policy on human rights and freedoms, criminal legislation, criminal proceedings as well as the work of prosecutors’ offices of Turkmenistan.
In this context, Attorney General of the country mentioned established productive relationship with the UN agencies in such spheres as protection of human rights and freedoms, enhancement and reforming of domestic legislation of Turkmenistan, prevention and fight against organized crime, terrorism, illegal drug trafficking, human trafficking and cybercrime.
