THE PRESIDENT OF TURKMENISTAN HAS ATTENDED THE SUMMIT OF COOPERATION COUNCIL OF TURKIC-SPEAKING STATES AS THE GUEST OF HONOR

On 31 March 2021, the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov attended informal Summit of Cooperation Council of Turkic-Speaking States (Turkic Council) as the Guest of Honor. This online event was organized at the initiative of the first President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev in the city of Turkestan of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The Heads of Member-States and the Secretary General of the Turkic Council, as well as the Prime Minister of Hungary as an observer state in the Organization have participated to the Summit.

The President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov underlined the importance of this meeting, which is being organized in the International Year of Peace and Trust, and reaffirmed Turkmenistan's commitment to promoting economic, energy, transport, environmental and cultural-humanitarian cooperation between the countries.

This meeting created an effective platform for participants to discuss pressing issues of cooperation. The participants exchanged views on improving mutually beneficial partnership in the field of economy, transport, energy, ecology and culture, taking into account the humanitarian aspect.

The positive role of the Turkic Council in strengthening ties of friendship between countries and people was emphasized. This positively affects the maintenance of peace and stability in the region and beyond it.

During the Summit, the participants considered the Turkic Council Strategy for 2025 and several other documents.
