PRIORITY ISSUES OF INTERACTION BETWEEN TURKMENISTAN AND ECO WERE DISCUSSED

Today, on June 16, a meeting of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov with the Secretary General of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) Hadi Soleimanpour has been held in an online format.

During the course of the meeting the important issues of bilateral interaction in the direction of intensifying the work of the ECO and coordination of activities with the other states-members of the Organization for proper implementation of the programs and plans developed in line with the ECO Vision 2025.

The issues of organization on 28th of November of the current year the 15th ECO Summit in Ashgabat were discussed in detail. As is known, this year Turkmenistan presides over the Economic Cooperation Organization. The sides expressed confidence that the upcoming Summit would confirm the parties’ commitment to the progress and prosperity of the ECO region.

It was also underlined the readiness of Turkmenistan as the Chair of the ECO Council of the Ministers to host in July this year the regular meeting of the ECO Regional Planning Council, to be held in online & physical formats.

The sides noted that Turkmenistan considers promoting comprehensive partnership within the ECO framework in the economy, trade, energy, transport, as well as cultural and humanitarian spheres.

At the meeting it was confirmed the readiness of Turkmenistan to all-round activation of further interaction directed at implementations of aims and tasks of the Organization aimed at sustainable development of the ECO Region.

The same day, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan in participation of the heads and representatives of corresponding ministries and agencies of Turkmenistan there was held a meeting with the heads of the ECO in videoconferencing format.

Within the framework of the constructive talks the sides discussed priority issues of multilateral interaction aimed at implementation of Concept Note of Chairmanship of Turkmenistan in ECO during 2021as well as in accordance with the ECO Vision 2025.

Additionally the parties exchanged the views on important ways of cooperation in the sphere of economy, trade, energy, transport and communications.
