Nukus of Karagalpakstan hosted an event dedicated to the Turkmen-Uzbek friendship and the 300th anniversary of Makhtumkuli Fraghi.

On February 27 this year, with the assistance of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, the Turkmen Cultural Center and the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Uzbekistan a solemn event was organized in Nukus. Event was devoted to the "30th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan" and "Makhtumkuli Fraghi - a symbol of friendship between the Turkmen and Uzbek peoples".

The festivities began with a tour to the State Museum of History and Culture of the Republic of Karakalpakstan in Nukus and a tour of the historical and cultural displays of the Karakalpak people, as well as visiting an exhibition organized by the cultural centers of the Turkmen, Kazakh, Korean, Ukrainian and Russian peoples at the entrance to the Berdakh Karakalpak State Academic Musical Theater.

Then a musical event titled "30th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan" and "Makhtumkuli Fraghi - a symbol of friendship between the Turkmen and Uzbek peoples" was held at the State Academic Music Theatre in Karakalpakstan named after Berdakh. It was participated by the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, members of the Supreme Soviet, representatives of Turkmen, Karakalpak, Uzbek, Kazakh, Korean, Ukrainian and Russian cultural centers, as well as local ministries and departments.

Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Karakalpakstan Nurazizov Redzhepbai Kopalbekovich made a speech at the event. The representative of the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Republic of Uzbekistan, participating in the event, stressed the historical importance of the Turkmen-Uzbek friendship, noted the strategic achievements in all spheres between the two friendly peoples, mutually beneficial achievements made over the past 30 years. Also, a representative of the Embassy noted that in 2024 Turkmenistan going to celebrate 300th anniversary of the great Turkmen thinker and philosopher Makhtumkuli Fraghi and emphasized that the poetry of Makhtumkuli Fraghi is highly appreciated by the Uzbek people and academics in line with the great personalities of the East as Alisher Novayi and others.

The representative of the Committee on International Relations and Friendship with Foreign Countries of Uzbekistan, the head of the Republican Turkmen Cultural Center, the head of the Turkmen National Cultural Center of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, Senator and Chief Editor of "Literature of Karakalpakstan" and Associate Professor of the Department of National Ideology also made speeches.  In their speeches, they emphasized that in recent years the Turkmen-Uzbek political, economic, cultural, humanitarian and other relations have reached a high level, and that the Uzbek people are sincerely happy about these relations.

After the performances, the artists of the Berdakh Karakalpak State Academic Musical Theater performed poems from the works of Makhtumkuli Fraghi, Alisher Novai and Berdakh in their native languages. Then songs in Turkmen, Uzbek, Karakalpak and other languages were sung and national dances were performed.
