President of Turkmenistan and President of Kazakhstan discuss priorities of cooperation

Upon completion of the V Summit of Heads of the Caspian Littoral States, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held a meeting with President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev. 

The leaders of the two states congratulated each other on the successful organization of the Summit and signing the Convention of the Legal Status of the Caspian Sea as well as a number of other important documents. 

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov thanked President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev for the cordial welcome, underlining the high organizational level of the Summit and expressed belief that the outcomes of the forum would promote the versatile cooperation on the Caspian Sea. 

The Presidents exchanged their views on the decisions adopted during the top-level meeting that are of particular significance for all countries, participating in the forum. The leaders of the two states emphasized the importance of consolidating the efforts to implement them, ensure security in the region and the atmosphere of trust and mutual understanding, as well as strengthen the spirit of friendship and fraternity. 

President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev underlined that the peoples of the two countries were bounded with the historical and fraternal ties and expressed satisfaction with the development of the trade relations between the two countries and wide opportunities for their expansion. 

“The present day has significantly contributed to the development of our relations. At present, we have all the resources for the further enhancement of the bilateral cooperation,” said the President of Turkmenistan. 

Focusing on the promotion of the earlier achieved agreements as well as the joint projects in such strategic areas as trade, energy and transport, the meeting participants expressed the countries’ commitment to the close cooperation at the bilateral and regional levels. 

The new International Sea Port in Turkmenbashi is specified as a promising complex for the growth of the transport integration. 

Focusing on the environmental areas, the parties also discussed cooperation in the framework of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea and the agenda of the meeting of the heads, founders of the Fund that will take place in Avaza on the Turkmen coast of the Caspian Sea in the last decade of August. 

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev confirmed the commitment to the dialogue of friendship and fruitful cooperation, expressing belief that the relations would continue successfully developing in the name of the two fraternal neighbouring peoples.
