On June 18, 2026, Prime Minister of Malaysia Anwar Ibrahim arrived in Turkmenistan for an official visit. The distinguished guest was welcomed by officials at the Ashgabat International Airport.

Today, relations between Turkmenistan and Malaysia, built on the principles of equality, mutual respect, and mutual benefit, are reaching new heights. The multifaceted bilateral cooperation is constructive. A clear testament to this is the regular mutual support for each country's initiatives within major international organizations, particularly the United Nations.

The oil and gas industry stands out as one of the strategic areas of bilateral economic engagement. The long-standing, efficient operations of the Malaysian company "Petronas" in Turkmenistan serve as a prime example of a durable and reliable investment partnership.

The sides are also focusing on promising fields such as the transport and logistics sector, advanced technologies, and agriculture.

Cultural and humanitarian ties form an indispensable component of Turkmen-Malaysian relations. In this framework, a special emphasis is placed on collaboration in science and education.

Consequently, the upcoming high-level talks in Ashgabat and the agreements to be reached will mark a significant step toward further developing fruitful cooperation between the two friendly nations across a broad spectrum of areas.
