Permanent representative of Turkmenistan in UNESCO makes speech at the session of ASPAC Regional Group
Permanent Representative of our country in the UNESCO Shohrat Jumayev has made a report on celebration of the 25th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s neutrality during plenary session of Asian Pacific Group (ASPAC) in the UNESCO, which was held in online format.
Assistant Director-General for Natural Sciences under UNESCO Mrs Shamila Nair-Bedouelle and representatives of ASPAK Group country members took part in the session.
During his speech, the Permanent Representatives of Turkmenistan in the UNESCO introduced the main milestones in 25-year history of permanent neutrality, its main characteristics and principles as well as home and foreign policy of our country to the participants of online meeting, having highlighted international initiatives of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on current issues of the world development.
The importance of positive experience accumulated for 25 years of neutral status has been highlighted. After the speech of Shohrat Jmayev, topical video has been demonstrated to the participants of the session.
The UNESCO includes 6 groups, in which the countries are united by the regional principle. The ASPAC includes 44 states. General session is held on monthly basis.
During the session of the Group, the country members share the views and discuss aspects of UNESCO policy for this region as well as agree on approaches to some issues and discuss election process in the structure of the Organization.
